Phoenix Club of Nashville Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Nashville, Tenn., October 27, 2021 – The Phoenix Club of Nashville (PCON) is thrilled to celebrate its milestone 20th anniversary this year. Since its inception 20 years ago, PCON has grown from an organization that worked with a single beneficiary into an established philanthropic engine working with dozens of nonprofits and businesses across Middle Tennessee. The organization currently has 142 Active Members, 40 Legacy Members, and over 300 Alumni.

Some nonprofit partners over the years include Teach for America, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee, the National Museum of African American Music, Rock the Street Wall Street, 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee, West Nashville Dream Center, Boy Scouts of America Middle Tennessee Council, STARS and more. To support the efforts of these nonprofits, PCON invests alongside corporate partners including AllianceBernstein, Deloitte, Zander Insurance, HCA, Pinnacle Financial Partners, Healthpeak Properties, PNC Bank, and other generous individuals.

In the last 20 years, the Phoenix Club and its coinvestment partners have generated over $2 million in total impact to youth-focused nonprofit partners in Middle Tennessee, with over $250,000 invested in 2021.

“We’re able to go to corporate partners and say… we’re putting our own money behind this grant, and we want you to invest in this with us. Here’s why. This is the impact that it will have based on our conversations with the nonprofits. So we’ve done the vetting, and it’s going to be impactful,” shared Phoenix Club President Patrick Baird.

Through our “Venture Philanthropy” process, we identify local nonprofits, develop grant programs, and partner with businesses in the area to multiply our financial impact and fund new projects to support kids that otherwise might be overlooked by more traditional philanthropic projects.

To commemorate these achievements, the Phoenix Club of Nashville is unveiling a new logo and a video featuring current and former presidents and board members speaking to the organization’s history, growth, accomplishments, and future.
