Nashville, TN, September 7, 2022 – The Phoenix Club of Nashville partnered with the Nicol family to invest $12,500 and $7,500, respectively, to fully fund a transit van for Dream Street’s transportation needs. This vehicle will be used to transport students to and from the new North Nashville Dream Streets location, where they will be able to visit 2-3 times per week to receive a healthy meal, complete homework assignments, and participate in two arts offerings of their choosing, including: spoken word and poetry; visual art, drawing, painting; dance and choreography; instrumental music; songwriting and production; and photography and videography.

TJ Fletcher, the executive director of Dream Streets shares, “15-20 students have voluntarily shown up after school at the Dream Streets North location. We are excited to see that number grow as we launch creative programming in the fall. Having a transit van helps us get them to the center safely without having to cross on foot the busy intersection of Clarksville Pike.”

The newly acquired van will be crucial to the growth of Dream Street’s North Nashville location as they continue to protect and empower children and help them pursue their dreams. This partnership represents a joint effort to materially improve both academic performance and mental health outcomes in distressed Nashville communities.

“The Nicol family is proud to work with PCON and Dream Streets to provide transportation to and from after-school activities at the North Nashville location, which will help to transform and strengthen the local community,” said Grant Nicol, director of finance at Nicol Investment Company.

“I’m grateful to Dream Streets for the important, impactful, and strategic work that they do to serve and grow communities in Nashville,” said Phoenix Club President Brian Nock. “Dream Streets has been a true partner of PCON, creating opportunities for our membership to volunteer, bringing new members to our organization, inviting us to join in their celebrations and achievements, and most importantly, serving Nashville. This being our second Venture Philanthropy investment with Dream Streets represents their demonstrated impact and growth as an organization.”
